International Conference of "Envisioning Japanese and Chinese Philosophical Potentials in the 21st Century" in Hong Kong
International Conference of “Envisioning Japanese and Chinese Philosophical Potentials in the 21st Century” was held in Hong Kong at December 13 and 14, 2008. Thanks to the great effort by two young colleagues in Hong Kong, LAM Wing Keung and CHEUNG Ching-yuen, this epoch-making conference was realized. This conference had an ambitious challenge to start a new type of study on Japanese Philosophy: to put the study on Japanese Philosophy in an international context and ask actual problematic through re-reading of Japanese Philosophy.
The conference was supported by the Hong Kong Institute of Education and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. There were two keynote speeches, twelve presentations, and discussion for the future International Association for Japanese Philosophy. The program was as follows.

We are now being called to constitute International Platform for Japanese Philosophy such as International Society for Japanese Philosophy, International Research Centre for Japanese Philosophy and International Journal for Japanese Philosophy from overseas scholars who feel isolated and helpless. As the title of this conference showed, Japanese Philosophy has a chance to develop its philosophical potentialities in order to offer new framework for this critical moment of the world. The ball thrown is now in our hand.
