On August 14th, at the halfway of the three weeks seminar, we had an exciting lecture by professor Yasunari TAKADA at Komaba. The report written by Ms. Amakawa will tell us how Mr. Takada addressed the question that may make you feel awkward --"How to be a Perfect Japanese".

On May 31st, 2013, UTCP invited Prof. Douglas Cairns, Professor of Classics at the University of Edinburgh. Prof. Cairns delivered a lecture entitled ‘Honour and Shame: Modern Controversies and Ancient Values’.

Last year, Professor Yasunari Takada (UTCP) launched a new lecture series titled “UBI SUMUS” (where are we?). This series aims at identifying where we are, both in a national and global context. On February 20th, 2013, the second of the series was held with Professor Tadashi Uchino (UTCP), Mr. Toshiki Okada, and Professor Cody Poulton (University of Victoria).

On October 26th, 2012, the first of the series was held with Professor Masaaki Takeda (UTCP) as a speaker and Mr. Keiichiro Hirano as a discussant.

Prof. Maria Giuseppina Muzzarelli's lecture "Christine de Pizan, Prima donna laica intellettuale di professione: tre temi" was held on November 5, 2010.

Yasunari Takada published Critical Moment: The Origin of Critique and the Recognition of Criticality (Nagoya University Press).

On June 10th, Dr. William Shang (Shinichi Yasuda) from the University of Tokyo gave a talk titled “Images from the Past: Imagination and Reality seen in Visual Records”. The lecture was part of the UTCP Academic English program.

On May 25, 2009, UTCP and the Todai-Yale Initiative invited Haun Saussy, Professor of Comparative Literature at Yale University, to give a talk titled “Two Perspectives on the ‘Thing’ in Poetry: Where Fenollosa and Pound Diverge.”

The second volume of the UTCP booklet What are the Classics in Our Time? under the edition of Nakajima Takahiro and Kobayashi Yasuo came out.
