Masashi Haneda, East India Company and the Asian Seas

13 December, 2007 HANEDA Masashi, Publications

Masashi Haneda, member of UTCP has published a new book.

It is the 15th volume of Kodansha’s series “World History of Rise and Fall”.
On the cover strip it is vividly written “Globalization began with the first stock company in history”.
For me, personally, it was interesting to learn new details about the ship-stores of the East Indian Company and I felt the joy of reading “history”. The strongest argument of the book, however, is that “Modern Europe is not at all a product of the efforts of people, inhabiting the geographical Europe” (mentioned in the post-face).
“The Asian Seas” for the modern Western Europe – there probably lays Haneda’s field, expanding towards the “history of humankind”. (Yasuo Kobayashi, English translation: Dennitza Gabrakova)
