Nakajima Takahiro Three Whirlpools: Shanghai, New York, Tokyo

2 November, 2007 NAKAJIMA Takahiro

In May, a little before the launching of the new UTCP we discussed Benjamin in Shanghai under the title “Metropolis and Cultural Theory”. This vortex produced a new vortex and a letter from Luo Gang (East China Normal University) and Zhang Xudong (New York University) promoting further international exchange, research and education came to UTCP.

We are planning periodic joint lectures based on it. In other words, we will be sharing a problematic, while moving from city to city: spring of 2008 in New York (for example, “The Age of Comparison”), summer in Tokyo (for example, “ Cultural Theory and the Times”) and autumn in Shanghai (for example, “Drawing a Tangent to the Age”). Heading to the International Research and Education Consortium the whirlpools are slowly overlapping.
