Gilles Deleuze was a philosopher who opened up a new era of thought through concepts such as “difference” and “power.” His influence remains strong even today. The year 2025 marks both the centenary of his birth and the 30th anniversary of his passing. To commemorate this occasion, we will present a complete screening of L’Abécédaire de Gilles Deleuze, an extended interview from his later years, accompanied by a series of talk sessions.
Koichiro Kokubun, author of The Principles of Deleuze’s Philosophy (Kodansha Academic Library), serves as the event coordinator. Guest speakers include Masaya Chiba, author of Don’t Move Too Much: The Philosophy of Becoming in Gilles Deleuze (Kawade Bunko), known for his incisive approach to Deleuze studies, and Takumi Fukuo, a new-generation thinker noted for When the Eye Becomes a Screen: Reading Deleuze’s “Cinema” from Scratch (Kawade Bunko) and Non-Aesthetics: The Words and Things of Gilles Deleuze (Kawade Shobo Shinsha).
