[About the Speaker]
Rikki Kersten is Professor in the Department of Political and Social Change, ANU College of Asia and the Pacific, Australian National University, where she teaches modern japanese political history. Her publications include Democracy in Postwar Japan: Maruyama Masao and the search for autonomy (1996), “The intellectual culture of postwar Japan and the Tokyo University struggles of 1968–69: repositioning the self in postwar thought,” Social Science Japan Journal (December 2009), and Turning to the Nation in Postwar Japan (forthcoming, 2011).
