Science, Technology, and Society

Science, Technology, and Society

The aim of this program is to comprehensively consider diverse relationships between science, technology, and society from philosophical, ethical, and historical perspectives. In particular, we shall focus on themes such as neuroethics (neuroscientific technologies and ethics), roboethics (robotics and society), participatory technology assessment, and developmental disorder studies and society. By studying these themes, we shall examine how science and technology affect our understandings of human beings and society and how we should control science and technology. Furthermore, we shall perform the following activities: sending out graduate students to international conferences, collaborations with foreign scholars, and interactions with people outside the university through the “Komaba Brain Café” initiative.
