Manuela Salazar is a Research Associate at the School of Media, Arts and Humanities in the University of Sussex, living in her home country of Brazil. Her interdisciplinary research traverses visual culture studies, media & communications, and philosophy. It currently focuses on theoretically and methodologically examining Instagram visual productions and their creators to investigate the concept of vibes, an aestheticised and vernacular understanding of atmospheres. In her talk, she will discuss “cosiness” as one of these vibes of Instagram, an aesthetic category of staging atmospheres.
