Series: On Conspiracy Theories in History 1 Conspiracy Theories: A Primer (J. E. Uscinski)
This is an event held in Japanese.
Today, the issue of conspiracy theories is repeatedly discussed in the media. Conspiracy theories themselves, however, are an old social phenomenon whose influence has only become more powerful with changes such as the spread of social networking sites. In this series of seminars, "Conspiracy Theories in History," we will take a longer historical perspective and examine the relationship between so-called modern society and conspiracy theories.
In the first installment, we will begin by considering the question of what conspiracy theories are in the first place by treating Conspiracy Theories: A Primer (Joseph E. Uscinski 2020). In this session, three young scholars specializing in philosophy and the history of thoughts will introduce the main points of this book and discuss the important issues in the critical analysis of conspiracy theories.
