David Cohen is a Professor of Social Welfare at the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs. After 6 years in clinical social work, he obtained is PhD in Social Welfare from University of California, Berkeley. Key research areas have been psychopharmacology and social work practice. He has received awards for excellence in research, writing, teaching, and mentoring. Between 1990 and 2011 he received 30 research grants from public and private institutions in Canada, France, and the US, including the NIH.
