Title: "Reductio ad absurdum of Naturalistic-representational Reduction of Phenomenal Consciousness"
Speaker: Patrick Grueneberg (Technical University Berlin)
Abstract: A major line in theories of consciousness makes use of representational architecture and naturalistic reduction to neural processes. This combination inevitably leads to contradictions and absurd consequences. In my talk, I would like to present such a reductio. Additionally and aside from this critical perspective, the further implications derived from the absurd consequences of such theories are quite instructive regarding some special methodological features of consciousness.
