This presentation explores the cultural history of the mirror, as an object and as a motif used in imagery, as well as considering related notions of reflexivity and doubling, through drawing on research from anthropology, archaeology, art history, history, literature, philosophy and robotics.
Miranda Anderson is a Leverhulme Early Career Research Fellow at the University of Edinburgh and she is the editor of The Book of The Mirror. Her research focuses on examining paradigms of the mind and the self across disciplinary and historical spans.
