The workshop started with Yasuo Kobayashi’s opening remarks on the problematic of “the epoch”.

From March 22 to 31, Yasuo Kobayashi, Takahiro Nakajima, UTCP fellows (Dennitza Gabrakova, Misato Ido, Wang Qian, Kei Hirakura, and Kei Yoshida), and Satoru Hashimoto (the former UTCP fellow, currently Ph.D. student at Harvard University) visited New York University.

Koichiro Kokubun wrote his comments about Hayao’s talk under the title “The Hope-Principle”、focusing on the issues of the change in the demographic composition of Israel, the separation wall, the activities of Picture Balata and the support of the olive harvest by a leftist group.

After Deleuze, Heidegger, and Blanchot comes the turn of Foucault. Yasuo Kobayashi’s seminar “Times and the Unconscious”, already familiar to many, was held grandly, according to the expectations on the 20th of November.

This program is conducted by alternating my graduate seminar and the seminars and work salons of UTCP, from 6pm every Tuesday, while all the presentations and discussions are loosely centered on the notion of “times” (age, epoch).

11月13日，在据点负责人小林康夫的主题为“时代与无意识”的研讨班上，特任讲师西山雄二以其著作《作为抗议的文学——莫里斯·布朗肖的孤独、友爱、共同性》（御茶之水书房，2007年）为蓝本，做了题为《莫里斯·布朗肖与时代——从〈应来的书〉到〈书的缺席〉》的报告。

On the 13th of November, as part of Yasuo Kobayashi’s seminar “Times and the Unconscious”, Yuji Nishiyama, research assistant lecturer, made a presentation under the title “Maurice Blanchot and the times - From ‘the Book to Come’ towards ‘the Absence of the Book’”, based on his recent book Literature as Contestation – Solitude, Friendship and Community in Maurice Blanchot (Ochanomizu-shobo, 2007).
