On June 6, the fifth lecture on understanding Islam "Why Now the Revival of Islam? From the Perspective of Modern History of Islamic Thought" was held. The speaker was Masato Iizuka (Professor, Research Institute for Languages and Cultures of Asia and Africa, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies).

2月8日，UTCP理解伊斯兰讲座第四讲邀请森本一夫准教授（东京大学东洋文化研究所）主讲，题目为《伊斯兰学术知识的中坚们：12世纪伊朗东部的一位博学之士的肖像》。

12月19日，UTCP邀请Karim Douglas Sloan Crow氏（新加坡南洋理工大学S.拉惹勒南国际研究院）主讲第三次理解伊斯兰讲座，题目为《现代的穆斯林：意象与现实》。

11月22日，UTCP理解伊斯兰讲座第二讲请羽田正教授主讲，题目为“《伊斯兰世界的创造》及其以后”。羽田教授以自己于2005年出版的著作《伊斯兰世界的创造》为主要题材，聚焦于“世俗化”和“世界史”这两个概念，重审伊斯兰理解的框架，提出以“共生的世界史”的形式来摸索回应时代要求的新型历史叙述的可能性。

The vice-leader Masashi Haneda was invited to give a lecture on November 22nd. Based on materials from his book The Creation of the Islamic World (2005), Haneda was questioning the framework of understanding Islam through the notions of “secularization” and “world history” in search of new possibilities to narrate history as “world history of coexistence”.

10月25日，UTCP理解伊斯兰讲座请鎌田繁教授主讲第一讲，题目为“伊斯兰：关系人之全部的宗教”。鎌田繁教授是伊斯兰思想的专家，尤其致力于什叶派神秘思想的研究。

We had the first UTCP lecture on understanding Islam on 25 October. We invited Prof. Shigeru Mamada as a lecturer. Prof. Kamada specializes in Islamic thought, in particular, Shiitic mysticism.
